Our Mission & Vision

Welcome to the journey!

Let me be one of the first to say, “Welcome to Painesville United Methodist Church, On the Square, Steeped in Prayer!” We trust you experienced a warm and genuine welcome from members and friends as soon as you walked through the doors – or visited via this website.

We invite you to come as you are. We are a United Methodist Congregation that seeks to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love one another as Christ loves us. With the help of God’s Holy Spirit, we intend to live in the world as the Body of Christ, expressing God’s transforming love and amazing grace in our church, our community, and wherever we go in the world God so loves.

Our 1873 Cornerstone has these words inscribed: “Search the Scriptures.” We are inspired that this is part of the founding vision of Painesville UMC and is yet current and fitting for today.

With this founding vision driving us, we are a church that seeks to practice “Open hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors” in the best ways described in Scripture.

Thank You for the privilege of getting to know you. Please consider this note an open invitation to come worship, find fellowship, and discover opportunities to grow and serve. Please feel free to contact any member of the staff with your questions.

Best of All Is God Is with Us!

Flood Buckets

The Painesville United Methodist Church is excited to be able to participate in replenishing 25 Flood Buckets for UMCOR in support of the relief effort they have for the drastic flooding going on in Kentucky.   Many homes have been damaged and UMCOR relies on these supplies to clean and sanitize spaces to make them habitable again.   PUMC has committed to supplying 25 buckets for this cause by September 11, 2022, and we’re grateful to Lowes in Mentor for their donation of the buckets and lids we have in the Sanctuary today!  Supplying a bucket will cost approximately $75 each.  There is an additional cost to the church of $3/bucket, or a total of $75, for shipping once the buckets arrive at the UMCOR warehouse.

The Youth Group, under the supervision of Margie Walker, will have a youth group delivery and work mission day trip to UMCOR’s Eastbrook Mission Barn in New Castle, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, September 11th.  The Youth will be able to load the van with the buckets after worship, take the 75 minute journey to New Castle, have a quick lunch, unload the van, and then help on barn-side mission projects from 2-5pm before returning to PUMC.
