Kitchen Restoration

After decades of use, our event kitchen flooring began to show signs of needing repair. Tears appeared in parts of the linoleum and other parts of the floor began to sag.  After meeting with contractors, we learned that we would need to remove all of the cabinets, sinks, and appliances in the kitchen so the entire floor could be addressed.  With this part of the building being over 150 years old, we anticipated that we may discover other items that would need to be repaired also. After removing all of the items from the kitchen, we discovered that one of the building’s original brick walls had water damage and also that, in addition to repairing the wall, we needed to add a new footer to properly support the wall and the church building.  Upon removing the old flooring, we also discovered that the plumbing also needed to be redone – including updating cast iron pipes to more modern materials used today!

Thus, what began as a floor repair turned into a major renovation that is ongoing today, with an estimated cost of over $400,000.  Your support will help us make the space usable again and one day allow us to resume the wonderful ministries that have taken place here in the past – from preparing meals for the homeless and Scouts serving their annual pancake breakfast to being able to facilitate a variety of fellowship events for our congregation and the community! Thank you for your support!
